Victor Cotton MD, JD, President of Law and Medicine, spoke at the 8th Annual EP Fellows Conference: Answering the Big Questions in Electrophysiology at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport, San Francisco, California on May 3, 2011. Dr. Cotton's presentation titled, "Defining the Standard of Care in Device Therapy," discussed how patient preferences, financial constraints and geographic limitations must be weighed along with the medical literature in order to determine the standard of care for any given patient. Over the past 15 years, Dr. Cotton has delivered more than 1000 presentations on "the standard of care." And, along the way, Law & Medicine has become the "standard of care" in medical-legal education.
