About Us > Accreditation
The Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) promulgates standards for excellence in CME and accredits entities which meet those standards. Once accredited by the ACCME, an organization can award AMA PRA Category I CreditTM (the "gold standard" in CME) for its educational activities.
In evaluating a provider of CME, it is important to note whether the entity is accredited by the ACCME, as this signifies the organization's overall committment to medical education. Unfortunately, many providers of risk management education are NOT accredited by the ACCME. Instead, they award CME credits through a "sponsorship" by another organization.
In contrast to the many entities which "rent" their CME credits from a sponsor, Law and Medicine carries the ACCME's highest level of recognition - Accreditation with Commendation. And, we are the only entity in this industry to do so. As a result of our accreditation, we are able to award AMA PRA Category I CreditTM for all of our educational activities.
In addition to our ACCME accreditation, our materials have also been accredited by the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). And, we therefore have the unique advantage of being able to award two types of CME credit for our materials: AMA PRA Category I CreditTM and AAFP Prescribed Credit.
